Gary “Gaz” Richards grew up north of Watford in a town called Sheffield. He has always loved music, especially in the heady days of punk, new wave and The Sheffield Sound. The first short-lived band he played in was called “The Crap”. The second was with the band “Eddie Riff and the Four Skins”, which consisted of lead guitarist Joe Elliott who went on to perform in the band Def Leppard.
Gary then left Sheffield and spent most of his working life in ship repair on Tyneside and later Scotland. His last job was as a practice manager for the NHS during COVID.
Following retirement he moved to Deal with his wife, the lovely Lady Oonah Belle. He stuck his head into Deal Radio and has been volunteering ever since. He recently began his own show.
Remember when music was SO important? When you'd get on your bike with your pocket money burning a hole in your pocket and cycle through the rain to the local record shop because you just HAD to buy SOMETHING? Remember going round your mate's house to hear his new albums and singles? Lovingly crafting a mixtape for someone you were trying to impress?close
