Deal Radio Street Side Radio For The World
Gary “Gaz” Richards grew up north of Watford in a town called Sheffield. He has always loved music, especially in the heady days of punk, new wave and The Sheffield Sound. The first short-lived band he played in was called “The Crap”. The second was with the band “Eddie Riff and the Four Skins”, which consisted of lead guitarist Joe Elliott who went on to perform in the band Def Leppard.
Gary then left Sheffield and spent most of his working life in ship repair on Tyneside and later Scotland. His last job was as a practice manager for the NHS during COVID.
Following retirement he moved to Deal with his wife, the lovely Lady Oonah Belle. He stuck his head into Deal Radio and has been volunteering ever since. He recently began his own show.
Rather than subject listeners to one particular genre of music, our typical presentations cover a wide spectrum of rock and roll, from 60s British Invasion to Rockabilly to 50s rockers to Psychedelic Oldies and all points in between.

The program features both the music and background stories of artists and the times they live in. He refers to his show as “Candy for the ears and food for the brain”.

Each week Richard’s special guest will have chosen their tracks to play and explain what they have meant to them in their lives. There will also be a bit of general probing about the guests family and career.
