Simon ‘The Monkeyman’ Styles delves into the archive of the John Peel Sessions and breaths life back into them. Today he uncovers Orange Juice and The March Violets.

Orange Juice

Orange Juice was a Scottish jangle pop band founded in the Glasgow suburb of Bearsden as the Nu-Sonics in 1976. They became Orange Juice in 1979, and became perhaps the most important band in the Scottish independent music scene that emerged in the post-punk era

The March Violets

The March Violets are an English post-punk/gothic rock[1] band formed in 1981 in Leeds, incorporating singers of both sexes, drum machine rhythms and echo-laden electric guitar, much in the style of fellow Leeds band the Sisters of Mercy.
