Well, it’s that time of year, Christmas time. And with each year grows the list of Christmas films that become a tradition to watch every year. Some may love the classics like A Christmas Carol or it’s a wonderful life. Whereas the younger generation may prefer something like Elf or Home Alone. I have put a list together of the best Christmas films that you should absolutely watch this year, and if you don’t like them then you can always go back to your favourites. You never know you might like what you read in this case.
I won’t give away too much of the details, but The Christmas Chronicles is about two siblings called Kate and Teddy who hatch a plan to catch Santa on camera on Christmas Eve. However, the plan backfires as they end up teaming up with Santa to save Christmas.
This film is perfect for the family with plenty of action and adventure. Who doesn’t like watching a mission to save Christmas? there’s even The Christmas Chronicles 2 which is also available on Netflix.
Starring Vanessa Hudgens playing two people at once. The Princess Switch is about two women who look exactly alike but lead totally different lives. One is an ordinary woman living in Chicago and the other is a duchess. They both agree to switch places.
The Princess Switch definitely keeps the viewers on their toes especially when it comes to telling the two characters apart. A great film if you are wanting something romantic but also with some funny moments. If you do enjoy watching The Princess Switch, there’s two more where that came from and all in the same place.
A Christmas classic about Luther and Norah Krank who have to have their first Christmas without their daughter Blair who moved to Peru to join the peace core. Luther comes up with an idea to skip Christmas and go on a cruise instead, until the last minute Blair calls and says she’s coming home for Christmas which sends Luther and Norah into panic mode.
This film is great with lots of funny moments, and I don’t know about you but if you have watched this then doesn’t the frosty give you the creeps? I would highly recommend if you are looking for something different to watch this year, or if you’ve watched it before but not for a very long time. I also believe it sends a message. unless you don’t celebrate it, you should never skip Christmas.
One of my favourite Christmas films, starring Bill Murray. A very selfish television executive named Frank Cross is being haunted by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. With the help of the ghost of Christmas past, present and future, they help Frank to change his ways before it’s too late.
Scrooged is something that my mum and I watch every year and never get tired of it. Full of laughter and never a dull moment throughout. However, if your child scares easily they may not like this film as there may be parts that are too scary for them. Apart from that, it’s a brilliant film to watch over the festive season.
Starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. Christmas Vacation is about a family man named Clark Griswald who wants to create the perfect family Christmas, but things don’t go to plan.
This is my ultimate favourite Christmas film. You can’t help but laugh when things go horribly wrong. This is another film that I watch every year without fail and would highly recommend to those who have never watched it. Especially if you love watching their plans go very wrong.
Thanks for reading.
I hope this has helped you make a choice of what you should watch this festive season and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
