Born in Bradford (a long time ago), Lee wanted to be playing music for as long as he can remember. After leaving school he became a well-known and much-followed DJ in leading nightclubs in the North, working with impresarios like Peter Stringfellow to open several ground-breaking venues.
After marrying, he needed to get a ‘proper job’ more suited to family life and spent some years in Germany working in the travel industry. Returning to the UK and Kent his career took another turn, this time as product development manager for Pilkington Glass and other manufacturers in the industry.
Early in this period of his life, Lee also worked part-time with Invicta Radio’s outside broadcasting and events team, before joining Academy FM (Thanet) once he had retired from commerce.
Having lived in Deal since 2019, Lee is delighted to be starting this exciting new venture with Deal Radio and looks forward to engaging with new audiences through his shows, KiKin’ BaK with Lee Ackers on Monday, 4 till 6pm, and Midday Meet Up on Wednesday lunchtime, 12.00 till 14.00.

Piers has worked in a number of jobs over the years but trained as Chef in the 80s and worked in hotels for a number of years, but always had a passion for Music and Radio.
