Norma Winstone
The UK’s greatest jazz vocalist and a true innovator, evolving her own wordless approach to improvisation. Equally at home with standards, performing with small groups or larger ensembles, she has remained a major force in jazz, recording and performing from the late sixties and seventies to the present day.
Daniel Cano
A versatile trumpeter, composer and educator, he has recorded two albums as a leader for Spanish independent Blue Asteroid and is co-leader of the Duplexity project with Doug Sides. A member of the London Improvisers Orchestra and a regular club and festival performer.

Doug Sides
Born in the US and later resident in Paris and now living in Broadstairs, drummer Doug Sides has played at the highest level with Johnny Griffin, Sonny Stitt, Bobby Hutcherson, Blue Mitchell, Abdullah Ibrahim, Abby Lincoln, Hank Jones, Benny Golson and many more. Leader of Sumbio and co-leader of the Duplexity project with Daniel Cano.

Dulcie May Moreno
A vocalist with a desire for story telling in song and a jazz jam and event host in Canterbury and the Kent Coast, performing regularly in a number of lineups with the finest local musicians. As if her passion for jazz was written in the stars, International Jazz Day happens to fall on her birthday!
Ginger Bennett
A deeply soulful singer known for her intimate style, living and performing regularly on the Kent Coast. Together with pianist and composer Frances Knight, she is currently presenting ‘Songs From My Soul’ a powerful exploration of a mother-daughter relationship through song and spoken word.
Glasshouse featuring Lizzy Bell
A jazz focused quintet led by keyboardist Martin Goodsmith featuring the versatile vocalist Lizzy Bell, concentrating on a broad base of Latin, European and US material. Often seen in Summer playing free concerts outside the Don Juan Café in Canterbury to a music-hungry audience.
Graeme Airth
An experienced saxophonist and a former member of chart-toppers Curiosity Killed The Cat, now living on the Kent Coast and happily back to playing modern jazz and the classic songbook repertoire. Leads a weekly Saturday jazz gig with local musicians at the Walmer Castle in Deal.
Sabina Desir
A fine vocalist who has performed with pianist Kirk Lightsey and a producer who established The Jazz Sessions at The Gulbenkian Theatre. She is Artistic Director for Freedom Road Project which was conceived with her musical partner, the pianist Jessica Lauren, combining music, photography, film and voice to present live performances centering black and marginalised stories.
Jessica Lauren
The pianist, keyboard player and composer has been a cult figure on the UK’s soul-jazz scene since the early 1990s. She has played alongside Jean Carne, Tom Browne, Dexter Wansel, Archie Shepp, The Art Ensemble Of Chicago, Shabaka Hutchings, and is a core member of Nick Woodmansey’s space jazz co-operative Emanative. She works with Sabina Desir as accompanist, musical director, and co-creator of multiple projects.
Jennifer Maidman
A singer, songwriter and musician who has worked with a vast range of artists including Van Morrison, Boy George and Bonny Raitt, and was a member of Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Her solo album ‘Dreamland’ recorded in Birchington, Kent and Woodstock NY, features her life partner, the renowned trombonist Annie Whitehead (also a Penguin Cafe Orchestra member), ECM artist David Torn and drummer Jerry Marotta.
Annie Whitehead
The UK’s premier jazz trombonist and a musician with a vast CV including McCoy Tyner, Robert Wyatt and Brotherhood of Breath, Elvis Costello, Paul Weller and Blur. A founder member of Working Week, member of Penguin Cafe Orchestra and a bandleader with a series of albums, she is currently working together with Jennifer Maidman on their various projects and as promoting the ‘Dreamland’ album in the US and the UK.
Michael J. McEvoy
A multi-instrumentalist who has recorded three jazz albums, written for film and TV including the Award-winning BBC/PBS documentary ‘The Jazz Ambassadors’, ‘Me And Orson Welles’ and ITV’s ‘Dark Angel’. He has also worked with Steve Winwood/Traffic, Bee Gees, Sting, Future Sound of London and Soul II Soul.
Paul Booth
A prize-winning saxophonist, composer, arranger and bandleader as well as a first-call sideman with Eagles, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan and many more premier artists. He performs his own music in a number of different groups including his own quartet, an organ trio, Patchwork Project, Bansangu Orchestra and TRYPL. His new solo album project ’Forty Four’ is released this April.
