Richard Swan grew up in the 60’s and 70’s in a household and went to a school, both filled with music. In particular, his school encouraged the formation of live bands and invited emerging progressive rock bands to perform in order to build on their encouragement and interest in modern day music.
Whilst he was classically trained in piano and wind instruments, Richard’s passion was always for the classic progressive rock artists of the 70’s; King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Rick Wakeman, Pink Floyd, Barclay James Harvest, Camel, Supertramp and many more.
Despite these musical passions, his career took him through decades in Her Majesties Forces and then as a specialist engineer and construction professional. But music was always at his heart and, on retirement, Richard was able to devote more time to a wide range of musical interests.
Richard writes album reviews for The Progressive Aspect (www.theprogressiveaspect.net), and follows these up with audio reviews on Progzilla Radio (https://progzilla.com/), in particular as guest presenter on Shaun Geraghty’s The Prog Mill. He also runs a limited-edition vinyl only record label (Wild Thyme Records), to support emerging progressive rock bands to release their music in his favoured format and in the most cost effective manner.
When all of the presenters are away we let the ghost of presenters past run the desk. Our automated system takes over for its own special few hours of broadcasting. Playing a selection of great music from across the decades!
close2 Hours of romantic hits each week with dedications, requests and more on over 100 radio stations worldwide. That's a BIG audience!
closeThe program features both the music and background stories of artists and the times they live in. He refers to his show as “Candy for the ears and food for the brain”.
